The prophet Samuel spoke God’s words to handsome Saul (1 Samuel 9: 2), that Saul as king had to defeat the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15: 1-11) who had so opposed Israel after their flight from Egypt. Saul, in contrary to Samuel’s words, left King Agag and the cattle alive. God told Samuel to anoint a new king in a family. The father quickly called his sons together. In the concerned family, 7 sons were brought to Samuel, but Samuel could not find the right one. Are these all the sons, he asked their father Jesse?
Except the youngest, who is not there. He is tending the sheep. That youngster was considered too light by his father, to be anointed as king. Then go and get him right away.
The young man was brought in and immediately anointed with oil (1 Samuel 16:13). This was the one who later defended God’s people, when he defeated the giant Goliath with a stone. After Saul, David became king. The forefather in the line of the Son of God, our king Jesus.
Because God looks at someone’s heart (1 Samuel 16: 7). That also applies to every Christian.

Summary part 5:
The 1st fulfillment of ‘the vision for those days ‘, which would befall the Jewish people with Antiochus IV Epiphanes as king.
The 2nd fulfillment of ‘the vision for those days’, which will befall Christians with the Antichrist as king.

It did not stop with the visions and prophecies that Daniel received in the preceding articles. Daniel was a man cherished by God by his firm faith (Dan.10: 11, 19). YHWH had full attention to him. That will also be the case for any steadfast Christian. 

Summary part 4:
The 1st  fulfillment of the 70 weeks prophecy came, from the coming of the Messiah in +/- 29 AD. + 7 years = +/- 36 AD (3.5 years after Jesus’ death) with the end of reprieve of grace for the Jews.
The 2nd fulfillment of the 70 weeks will be at the end of the two witnesses’ prophecy (after 42 months or 3.5 years) with the end of reprieve of grace for the unbelieving fellow men, where after God’s Kingdom will begin (Rev. 11: 15).

In the first regnal year of Darius the Mede as viceroy of Babylon, King Cyrus the Great of Persia issued the decree to let rebuild the temple with a number of Jews. (2 Chron. 36: 22-23) (Ezra 1: 1).
In the third regnal year over Babylon (Dan. 10: 1), Daniel received after supplications and mourning the vision for many days yet to come (Dan. 10:14), of which the fulfillment is also so important to us.

Theme: Antiochus IV Epiphanes is the image of the Antichrist in the last days.

Why is so much attention given to the Antichrist in the Bible?
Because this person becomes by far the greatest attacker of God’s people. It is this person, a Satanist, who as king will cause the great tribulation for God’s people.

Summary part 3:
The jealousy and contempt of the elite for faithful worshipers in Babylon.
Faithful Christians are no part of this world with its unreasonable and callous elite.
The 4 world powers that will come since the last king Zedekiah of Judah, in the line of David.
The 7 world powers that will come since the call of Abraham from Ur, the USA as 7th.
Some of the holy angels cause a devastating apostasy, they become demons, helpers of Satan.
Some of God’s people cause a devastating apostasy, they become children of Satan.

Theme: The angel Gabriel told Daniel a prophecy that is being fulfilled in the present days.

Christians have set their lives free with the truth of God’s word and baptism.
The desire of Christians for God’s kingdom is great now, just as the desire of Jews was great to return from their exile to Judah.

Summary part 2:
The worship of the golden statue of Nebuchadnezzar and the rescue of the faithful Jewish young men from the fiery furnace.
The worship of the image in the near future and the salvation of faithful Christians for the fire.
From the calling of Abraham on, God’s people would be ruled in 7 periods of world powers by kings who had lost their minds.
The mindless 7 world powers are now ending. What is happening now worldwide is, that the demons are going out to the rulers to gather them for the great climax (Rev.16:14).
Babylon was a depraved city of idolatry and would be conquered.
Great Babylon will be a depraved city of idolatry and will be destroyed.

Theme: Remaining faithful through a strong faith, by not becoming part of this world

After interpreting the first dream, Nebuchadnezzar called the God of Daniel ‘the God of gods and Lord of kings’. Daniel was taken up in a high position at the court of Babylon as ruler over the entire province of Babel and, at Daniel’s request, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were appointed over the administration of the province of Babel (Dan. 2: 47-49).

Summary part 1:
The temple of Jerusalem, the place of worship of God, destroyed around 586 BC.
With the great apostasy of Christians in these days, God’s spiritual temple is being destroyed.
Because of the apostate Jews who had forsaken their God and engaged in idolatry, the faithful Jewish people also fell into slavery of Babylon.
Because of the great Christian apostasy who have forsaken God, faithful Christians have also become enslaved to the great Babylon, the empire of the financial world.
The Gentile domination of God’s people, in those days the Jewish people, to the time of the end.
The domination of God’s people in these days, now Christians, to the time of the end.

Have you also ever had that, a recognition of a certain situation?
To have the impression that you can place a certain situation through a previous experience?
This recognition is often present, especially among Christian faithful, who have always followed God’s voice through many trials. For this reason of recognition it is sometimes said: ‘ history repeats itself ‘.
The Spirit of God leads to knowledge of the scriptures and by applying the knowledge to wisdom:

(Daniel 1:17) 17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

In this series of articles we want to pay attention to both aspects, to knowledge and wisdom.
We would like to take you on an enlightening voyage of discovery through an old book.
Especially in this current period, the fully actual book Daniel:

(Daniel 12: 9) 9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”

We are therefore convinced that the book of Daniel was written with a timeless starting point.
