8. The visions of Daniel

Daniel’s visions compared to Revelation;
               taking away the recurring offering

Daniel 7 describes – four huge beasts – 4 world powers, by which the people of God, beginning with Nebuchadnezzar, would be suppressed.
The lion (the Babylonians), the bear (the Medo-Persians), the leopard (the Greeks) and the fourth beast (the Romans). In Daniel 7: 3-7 a description is made of these wild beasts with their characteristics. Every beast represents a kingdom or world power, and the horns in that world power represent the kings.

KJV (Daniel 7:23) 23 “Thus he said: ‘As for the fourth beast, there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth…
KJV (Daniel 8:20) 20 As for the ram that you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of Media and Persia.

For further information on the successive world powers, as described in Daniel, see:

Revelation 13: 1 describes these seven world powers with a crowned king (with diadem or crown), the political / military world powers:

KJV (Revelation 13: 1-2) And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority.

The wild beast with seven heads and 10 horns shares basic characteristics with the animals previously described in Daniel 7: 3-7, the leopard, bear and lion.
Revelation counts the kingdoms differently as Daniel.
There are six world powers that have played a role in the overall biblical history until John’s time; namely Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and the Roman Empire.

KJV (Revelation 17:10) 10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.

In John’s days there was the 6th world power, the Roman Empire. As the 6th world power (according to the census of Revelation) represented the Roman Empire, the 7th power is indisputably the American empire, today’s largest world power and a former British colony.
England was part of the Western Roman Empire, the ‘West’.
See: world powers 3. The seventh king, the American Empire https://www.dojc.nl/?p=486&lang=en

There have been more than seven world powers in history, but the seven heads of the wild beast of Revelation symbolize seven major world powers, which have oppressed God’s people.

This newsletter is mainly about the (end of times) visions of Daniel.
The identification of the time units and the little horn, which continued to be increasing. (Dan.8: 10)
We start with the 70 weeks prophecy and afterwards, a comprehensive identification of the horn with human eyes and a mouth.

The 70 weeks prophecy:

The 70-week prophecy is divided by many Bible Students in a period of 69 weeks and separated from that one week in the end-time. As we understand the 70 weeks prophecy, it is a contiguous period:

KJV (Daniel 9: 23-27) 23 At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision. 24 “Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place 25 Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed. 27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

The 70-week prophecy is, according to our study, the description of the end of the Mosaic Law, which is replaced by the new covenant that Jesus has concluded with his apostles:

KJV (Jeremiah 31: 31-32) 31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. (See also Hebrews 8: 7-9)

KJV (Luke 22: 19-20) 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

With the fulfillment of the parts of Daniel 9:24 below, the 70 weeks are concluded:

  • 70 weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city
  • to finish the transgression
  • to make an end of sins
  • to make reconciliation for iniquity
  • to bring in everlasting righteousness
  • to seal up the vision and prophecy
  • to anoint the most Holy

These are discussed in order below.

70 weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city

Seventy weeks are determined upon the Jewish people and the holy city of Jerusalem with its temple.
The Hebrew word for “weeks” is on its own less specific, it just means a period of “seven”. Factually there is written: 70 periods of 7.
The number 70 is common used in Scripture as a ‘multiplying’ of the number 10 (completeness), in this case 7 × 10
Some examples are: Exodus 24: 1; 70 older men, Numbers 11:24; 70 older men, 2 Chronicles 29:32; 70 burnt offerings, 2 Chronicles 36:21; 70 years to pay off Sabbath, etc.

It cannot be literally 70 weeks, for then Christ could not be the promised Messiah.
We take – as a hypothesis – instead of ‘every week’ = ‘7 days’ now for ‘every week’ = ‘7 years’, as used in Ezekiel 4: 6 ” a day for each year” and in Numbers 14: 34 ” a year for each day” and as the 7th day had to be a Sabbath day, for the land the 7th year had to be a Sabbath year, Leviticus 25: 3-4 ” but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land “.
Probably there were seven weeks of seven years = 49 years needed to recover Jerusalem.
7 weeks of 7 years until the restoration of Jerusalem + 62 weeks of 7 years until the Messiah = 69 weeks of 7 years.
Jesus became the Messiah (anointed one) immediately after His baptism, when the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descended upon Him. (Matthew 3:16)

KJV (Isaiah 61: 1) 1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

When was Jesus baptized?

John the Baptist began to baptize in the 15th year of Tiberius Caesar reign. (Luke 3: 1-3)
Jesus was about 30 years old when he was baptized. (Luke 3: 21-23)
Tiberius’ reign began +/- 14 AD so the 15th year of reign was +/- 29 AD
That means that Jesus in approximately +/- 29 AD has become the promised Messiah (anointed one).
From the time the word is spread to rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah, there are 7 + 62 = 69 weeks. Spreading the word to restore Jerusalem according to the decree of Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 2: 1-8 and Ezra 7: 11-26) must have been 69 weeks (of 7 years) earlier:
69 weeks (of 7 years) = 483 years, prophetic biblical years well understood, years of 360 days.
483 prophetic years are +/- 476 solar years (solar year of 365 days)
The issuing of decree: +/- 29 AD – 476 solar years = +/- 448 BC. (Year 0 does not exist)
The end of the 70 weeks prophecy = +/- 29 AD + 1 week (of 7 years) = +/- 36 AD

to finish the transgression

The transgression of the law covenant, no man could perfectly keep this law covenant:

KJV (Galatians 3: 10-11) 10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”

to make an end of sins

KJV (Hebrews 10: 12,18) 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,… 18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

to make reconciliation for iniquity

The law gave the iniquity no atonement, Christ at his death was the conciliator of iniquity:

KJV (Galatians 2:21) 21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

to bring in everlasting righteousness

KJV (2 Peter 3:13) 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

to seal up the vision and prophecy

Daniel and his vision are sealed unto the day of redemption, the New Jerusalem:

KJV (Ephesians 4:30) 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

to anoint the most Holy

The Most Holy is the holiest part of the temple:

KJV (Exodus 26:33) 33 And you shall hang the veil from the clasps, and bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy.

This veil was torn in two when Jesus died. (Matthew 27:51)

KJV (Hebrews 9: 11-12) 11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) 12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

  • Verse 26a: “And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing.”

KJV (Philippians 2: 5-8) 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death…

  • Verse 26b: “And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood”

During Daniel’s vision the 1st temple had already been destroyed by the Babylonian empire.
The Roman empire was the destroyer of Jerusalem with its 2nd Temple in AD 70.
As a sudden and devastating ‘flood’, due to the Roman invasion force:

KJV (Daniel 11:31) 31 Forces from him shall appear and profane the temple and fortress, and shall take away the regular burnt offering. And they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate.

  • Verse 26b, “and to the end there shall be war.”

KJV (Matthew 24: 6) 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

  • Verse 27a And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering.

Jesus died for us after 3.5 years preaching at half of the week. (of 7 years)
So Jesus has died in +/- 29 AD + 3.5 years = +/- 33 AD
The Mosaic Law covenant would still remain in force for the Jews until 3.5 years after Jesus’ death. Then the regular burnt offering in the temple would no longer be accepted. Afterwards, 3.5 years after Jesus’ death, the Gentiles were taken up in the New Covenant, as first the Italian centurion Cornelius and his family:

KJV (Acts 10: 1-2,45) 1 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, 2 a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.
45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.

From the receipt of the Holy Spirit (as Messiah) at +/- 29 AD + 7 years = +/- 36 AD
Therewith will the 70 weeks be ended to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness.

  • Verse 27b: “And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

“And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate,” means nothing else than that God’s temple will not be rebuilt until the end-times:

KJV (Matthew 23: 37-38) 37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate.

There is also a second fulfillment of placing of the abomination, but now in the end times:
(See: Newsletters 7. No part of this world https://www.dojc.nl/?p=3773&lang=en)
In the end times, the desolation will be poured over the Christians by placing the abomination, placing the mark of the image.
Christians are in fact the temple of God. (1 Corinthians 3: 16-17)
(See also: Newsletters 3. The two witnesses https://www.dojc.nl/?p=3139&lang=en)

The horn (king) which had eyes and a mouth speaking great

KJV (Daniel 7: 7-8) 7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.

To answer the question of who this king is, we take as first the book of Revelation.
The symbolic interpretation of Revelation is explained different as in the book of Daniel:

KJV (Revelation 13: 1,5-7) 1 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads…. 5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation,

After the arrival of this beast (of Rev. 13: 1), John’s spirit is carried away to the wilderness where he sees a ‘scarlet colored’ wild beast (see below Rev.17: 3) on which a prostitute sits:

KJV (Revelation 17: 3) 3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.

The wild beast with seven heads and ten horns in Rev. 13: 1 is the same one as the scarlet colored beast with seven heads and 10 horns with the prostitute on the back. Concerning the first beast (Rev. 13: 1), the current 7th head is according to our research the US, as an image of military world power. Concerning the scarlet colored beast (Rev.17: 3), the current 7th head is according to our research also the US, but now as an image of world economic power.
This beast is in Rev.17: 8 remarkably described as ‘that was, and is not, and yet is’.
It is not a classical kingdom or world power, but it is still a kingdom or empire. It is called in Rev.17:11 (see below) the eighth world power. According to our research, this 8th kingdom are the central banks.
In Rev.17: 12 is written, that 10 (uncrowned) kings will receive royal power together with the beast for one hour:

KJV (Revelation 17: 7-13) 7 …I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. 9 This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast.

In Revelation are written 3 key texts about the horn ‘with eyes and a mouth’ (Daniel 7:8):

Revelation 13: 1 compared with Revelation 17: 3

In Rev.17: 3 is not written about tiaras or crowns as a public identifier for the scarlet colored beast, such as been done with the wild beast in Rev. 13: 1.
The scarlet colored beast is also not referred to as a religious form of power, after all, the woman as a symbol of idolatry is carried on the back. Remains a financial power form.
Military world power can only be maintained if you are a world economic power, if you can afford it.

Revelation 17:11

In Rev.17:11 is written that this beast with its 10 kings is kind of 8th world power, but in a completely different way as the previously described seven world powers, but it is out of these seven.
It is not a political / military power of a kingdom as before (is not), but it looks like – given the power – such a kingdom.

Revelation 17:12

These 10 kings will receive one Biblical hour royal power. (Rev.17: 12)
(The number 10 in Scripture is a designation for ‘completeness’, such as the 10 plagues of Egypt, the 10 slaves with the 10 minas, the 10 virgins with oil lamps and as the 10 toes of clay and iron of the image of Daniel 2: 31-45).
Then the beast (see Rev.17: 8, 11) will be destroyed and the city Babylon the Great will fall. (see Rev.18: 2,21) Thus ‘the horn with eyes and mouth’ is taking place in the very last part of the end times.

According to our study, the scarlet colored beast – with its 10 kings – represents the financial world power, the power of the central banks.
(As described in news-letters 1. Babylon the Great https://www.dojc.nl/?p=3039&lang=en)
And shows that the great whore represents the financial world, the love of money of this world.
(See: News Letters 1. Babylon the Great https://www.dojc.nl/?p=3039&lang=en)

KJV (Matthew 6:24) 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

From Jesus words that man cannot serve God and mammon (money or wealth), it is clear that ‘having love of money’ is equated with idolatry.
Or, as Jeremiah described the greed of ancient Babylon:

KJV (Jeremiah 51: 12-13) 12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the Lord hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon. 13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

For comparison with Revelation, how the ‘great whore’ is described here for her love of money:

KJV (Revelation 17: 1-2) 1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Both in the days of Daniel and John, there were no central banks.
One of the first central banks was ‘De Amsterdamse Wisselbank’, established in 1609.
The current central banks may be given national names, but the money flows are managed by very wealthy private wealthy.
The current central banks may have national names, but the money flows are managed by very wealthy private rich.
When the former colony of England, the US as an extension of the ‘West’, increasingly began to be productive, the founders of private central banks saw their chance in the US.

KJV (Daniel 7: 8) 8 ….before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots:..

Three kings / presidents who offered opposition against a private central bank were killed according to the video below, because they were against the profiteering of the private bankers:

U.S. Presidents Who Advocated A Publicly-Owned Central Bank
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B74SDHYo1L0

16th president Abraham Lincoln – Greenbacks 1865 assassinated
20th president James Garfield – Banking Statement 1881 assassinated
35th president JF Kennedy – execution order 1110 1963 assassinated

When has the 8th financial world power, the central banks, started to reign as a world power?
That’s to deduce on this, when they have begun to vigorously regulate the economy.
When we look at the world’s largest economy, the US, the Fed has rigorous turned the knobs of the financial world in early 2009 as a result of the credit crisis:

Central Bank of United States interest rate (FED)

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/interest-rate

But when we look at the third economy in the world, Japan, the central bank of Japan already rigorously start turning the knobs in the late 90s of the last millennium. The central bank buys not only government bonds, but also corporate bonds and equities packages.

Central Bank of Japan Interest Rate

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/japan/interest-rate

Or as Lord Jacob Rothschild (of the exorbitant wealthy family) expressed it in mid-2016:
“This Is The Greatest Experiment In Monetary Policy In The History Of The World”

He was referring therewith to the extremely low central bank interest rates to boost the economy along with the ‘quantitative ease’ programs of the Central Banks to buy en masse on bonds.
He can know this, members of the Rothschild family have been the pioneers of the Private Central Banks.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-08-16/lord-rothschild-greatest-experiment-monetary-policy-history-world

As we saw in Revelation 17:12, the 10 kings of the central banks will receive one Biblical hour royal power, in the very last part of the end times. So the last hour has beaten, but how much is 1 hour biblical time?
Calculating with one day is as 1,000 years? 1000/24 = about 41 years.

KJV (Psalm 90: 3-4) 3. . Return, ye children of men. 4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night..

KJV (2 Peter 3: 8) 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The Japanese central bank was at the end of 1990 already fully financially ‘ruling’.
Hypothesis: In 1998 + +/- 41 years = +/- 2039 the financial / economic system will have been collapsed.

After this explanation of the scarlet colored beast in Rev.17:3, we can continue with the descriptions in Daniel.

How is the horn identified, who had eyes and a mouth speaking great things?

The following points are written about this king:

The horn with eyes and a mouth has its origins in the political / military world power
Daniel 7: 8 there came up among them another little horn
Rev.17: 11 and is of the seven

This financial world power will differ from the previous world powers
Daniel 7: 24 and he shall be diverse from the first
Rev.17: 8 when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is

Three kings / presidents will be removed by this king and thus humiliated, namely three kings / presidents will be killed
Daniel 7: 8 three of the first horns plucked up
Daniel 7: 24 and he shall subdue three kings

The king will say that only love of mammon – wealth and money – is needed, God and his word are not needed and he will have a contempt for Creation
Daniel 7: 8 in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
Daniel 7: 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High
Daniel 7: 25 and think to change times and laws
Rev. 13: 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies
Rev. 13: 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God

The wild beast (political / military) will make war against the saints during the two witnesses’ prophecy and kill them (News-letters 3. The two witnesses https://www.dojc.nl/?p=3139&lang=en)
Daniel 7:21 the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them
Daniel 7: 25 and shall wear out the saints of the most High
Rev.11: 7 the beast that rises from the abyss will make war with them, and shall overcome them and kill them.
Rev.13: 7 (the military wild beast with seven heads and 10 horns) shall make war with the saints, and to overcome them

In the very last part of the end-time central banks will have their 8th world power
Rev.17: 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
Rev.17: 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Then the beast (see Rev.17: 8, 11) will be destroyed and Babylon the Great will fall. (see Rev.18: 2, 21)
Dan 7: 26 they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
Rev.17: 8 (the scarlet beast) shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition
Rev.17: 11 even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition

The holy house (temple) cast down and the falling away of the armies of heaven:

ESV (Daniel 8: 8-12) 8 Then the goat became exceedingly great, but when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and instead of it there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.9 Out of one of them came a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land. 10 It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some1 of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them. 11 It became great, even as great as the Prince of the host. And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown. 12 And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression, and it will throw truth to the ground, and it will act and prosper.

After the Greek Empire came the Roman Empire and therewith followed the occupation of the glorious land of Israel.
Jerusalem, with its temple was destroyed in 70 CE. and thus put an end to God’s temple, for the Jews the place of worship with its burnt offerings for recurring sacrifices.
But what was really going on had to do with the real ruler behind all world powers, including the Roman Empire: Satan, who offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world for an act of worship. (Matt.4: 8-9)
In Daniel 8: 10-11 is written, “He became great, up to the army of heaven. Of that army, namely of the stars, he let some fall to the earth and trampled them. He made himself great even up to the Prince of that army … “ It is obvious that people are not able to do such things.

KJV (Isaiah 14: 12-14) 12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

The above text-part is about the king of Babylon, but was in fact directed at the actual ruler, Satan. The same theme can be seen in Ezekiel, a message addressed to the king of Tyrus, but in reality it is about Satan:

KJV (Ezekiel 28: 12-16) 12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

KJV (John 8:44) 44 … He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him….

KJV (Ephesians 6:12) 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Now that we have a clear picture of Daniel 8:11, we read in Daniel 8:12 that the (heavenly) army will be given over because of transgression against the regular burnt offering.
With the destruction of the temple in AD 70 thus arose apostasy among the angel-sons about the regular burnt offering. Satan cast the truth to the ground and prospered, we read.
There has been clearly a controversy in heaven about the sacrifice of Christ:

ESV (Daniel 8: 13-14) 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one who spoke, “For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?” 14 And he said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”

As in the days of creation there is talk of evenings and mornings as time units:

KJV (Daniel 8:26) 26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

When we – as a hypothesis – take for each day a year, as used in Ezekiel 4: 6 “For each year I offer a day” and in Numbers 14:34 “forty days, a year for every day,” then the new temple restores after 2300 prophetic years of 360 days.
2300 prophetic years are +/- 2268 solar years (365 days)
Hypothesis new temple: AD 70 (Temple destruction) + +/- 2268 years = +/- 2338 AD.
Then the Sprout (Jesus) will have rebuilt the New Jerusalem (Ezekiel’s temple) on the new earth.
(See Newsletters: 4. New Jerusalem; part 1 https://www.dojc.nl/?p=3328&lang=en)
Then Daniel is visited by an angel to tell him about what is written concerning the end times in the book of truth: (Daniel 10:21)

KJV (Daniel 10:14) 14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.

KJV (Daniel 12: 7) 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swear by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

This part of Daniel speaks about the two witnesses’ prophecy, where the two holy prophets after a time, times and half a time preaching will be slain. With the end of the preaching work of the two witnesses and their supporters, there will come an end to all these things.
From the description of Revelation 12: 6, 14 we get an insight of understanding of time and times:

ESV (Revelation 12: 6, 14) 6 and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days……… 14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.

It is evident of Revelation 12: 6, 14 that 1 time + 2 times + 0.5 time = 3.5 times and corresponds to ‘one thousand two hundred sixty days’ = 3.5 prophetic years of 360 days each. One month is therefore 30 days by default, as is also evident from Revelation 11: 2 compared with verse 3, in this case, 42 months of 30 days:

ESV (Revelation ESV (Revelation 11:2-3) 2 but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months. 3 And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”

So Daniel 12: 7 speaks about – hypothetically – 3.5 times = 3.5 prophetic years. This section on the two witnesses’ prophecy also appears on another place in Daniel, in Daniel 7: 25, 26:

ESV (Daniel 7: 25-26) 25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. 26 But the court shall sit in judgment, and his dominion shall be taken away, to be consumed and destroyed to the end.

Also in Daniel 7:25 is talked about the ruin of the saints of the Most High, in particular the two witnesses or holy prophets of God.
Both Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12: 7 and Revelation 11: 3 (the two witnesses prophecy) refer to the same situation, as these Scriptures are all fulfilled just before the end.

KJV (Daniel 12: 9-13) 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

The ‘new’ recurring sacrifice

The ‘new’ recurring sacrifice – after Jesus sacrifice – became the faith in Jesus words.
This removal of the ‘recurrent sacrifice’ in the end time is the great Christian falling away:

KJV (Hebrews 13:15) 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

KJV (1 Peter 2: 5) 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

‘The abomination that makes desolate’ in the last days is the obtrusion of the mark that you need to buy or sell. (Revelation 13: 16, 17) When by pressure many are brought to stumble and Christians are hating one another and betray one another (Matthew 24: 9-10), then that is the marker of the recurrent sacrifice, that will be taken away at the end.

It is the climax of the great tribulation for Christians according to Revelation:
Revelation 11: 3-10 The two witnesses’ prophecy
Revelation 11:15 God’s kingdom begins
Revelation 12: 7-9 Satan from heaven hurled to the earth
Revelation 12:12 He has great anger because he has a short period

Or as it is written in Daniel:

KJV (Daniel 11:33) 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

KJV (Daniel 12: 3-4) 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. 4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

1290 days (Daniel 12:11) = probably 3.5 prophetic years (of 360 days) +1 inserted intercalary month, the 2nd month Adar.
The time between the massive falling away and the placing of the mark = 1290 days.
The time between the massive falling away and the inclusion in heaven = 1335 days. (Daniel 12:12)
In these last 45 days probably starts the war Har–Mágedon.

KJV (Matthew 24:22) 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

At the time of the end, the true knowledge will become abundant. The many will be brought to justice, soon, during the fulfillment of the two witnesses’ prophecy. This will be a worldwide testimony:

KJV (Revelation 11: 7) 7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

KJV (1 Thessalonians 5: 1-4) 1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

KJV (1 Timothy 6: 17-18) 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

The two witnesses (with their supporters) will preach worldwide for 3.5 years:

ESV (Revelation 11: 3, 7) 3 And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days … And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them,

The end time, and the great war at Har–Mágedon:
Daniel 8: 23-25 speaks of a ruthless king and Daniel chapter 11 of the king of the north and the south.
This theme will be discussed in a future newsletter.

Finally:

  • Summary time calculations:

Issue decree: +/- 29 AD – 476 solar years = +/- 448 BC. (Year 0 does not exist)
That means that Jesus in approximately 29 AD has become the promised Messiah (anointed one).
So Jesus died in +/- 29 AD + 3.5 years = +/- 33 AD
End of the 70 weeks prophecy = +/- 29 AD + 1 week (of 7 years) = +/- 36 AD

  • During the great tribulation:

The time between the massive falling away and the placing of the mark = 1290 days
The time between the massive falling away and the inclusion in heaven = 1335 days.
Both Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12: 7 and Revelation 11: 3 (the two witnesses prophecy) refer to the same situation, as these Scriptures are all fulfilled just before the end.

  • Hypotheses:

Hypothesis: +/- 1998 + +/- 41 years = +/- 2039 the financial system will have been collapsed.
Hypothesis new temple completed: 70 CE (Temple destruction) + +/- 2268 years = +/- 2338 AD
No absolute meaning should be attached to the hypothetical calculations, these are indicators. However, they all point in the same direction.

How should Christians – according to Scripture – deal with oppression?

KJV (Romans 12: 11-16) 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
